National Sunglasses Day (June 27th) is a big deal around our office. After all, eyewear is what we do. It surrounds us, we dream about it, we live and breathe sunnies, shades, and specs of all kinds. We also spend a lot of time thinking about eye health. It may be a tad less glamorous than the fashion side of our business, but it's a side that we take very seriously.
Those windows to the soul are delicate and need to be protected. Always. And children are the most vulnerable. Ultraviolet (UV) damage is cumulative and occurs over a lifetime of exposure, so getting kids in the habit of wearing sunglasses will help them avoid vision problems in the future. Even on overcast days, UV rays are still hard at working to cause issues like cataracts, macular degeneration, pingueculae, pterygia, and photokeratitis. Not only are most of those words nearly impossible to pronounce without an M.D. after your name, but they negatively impact your sight.
Play it safe (and stylish) when you're outside. Don sunglasses—or sunnies—as the cool kids say, to avoid severe eye conditions. And, on top of keeping your peepers bright and healthy, sunglasses let you go incognito, maintain an air of mystery, and add a little glamour to an average day. Toss on good-looking eyewear, and voila!— you're a cinematic star with a mysterious edge.
We want to see you rocking your favorite pair of shades on June 27 #NationalSunglassesDay! Post your selfie on social and tag us using #discountglasses.
