The sayings, “May the 4th Be With You” and “Happy Star Wars Day” are the salutations that fans and families around the world use to greet each other every May 4th aka Star Wars Day. This fan holiday is a chance for young and old, Rebels and Imperials, droids and Wookiees to recognize and celebrate their mutual enthusiasm for the beloved Star Wars brand that has been a major force in our culture for over four decades!
The phrase dates back to May 4, 1979 when Margaret Thatcher became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Her political party put out an ad in the London Evening News that said, “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations.” Since then, fans of the epic space saga ‘borrowed’ the phrase as a pun to the famous line “May the Force be with you” and applied it to their annual Star Wars festivities. The rest is galactic history.
Star Wars Day is all about celebrating and passing along the Star Wars story. Your kids will get a kick out of our Star Wars eyeglasses and eyeglass cases that will make them feel a part of the festivities and are a stylish way to show their Star Wars fandom. “Your eyes can deceive you,” but not while wearing these out-of-this world glasses!
